They're back, and they're ready to change our world.

Beginning in much the same way as The Wyldes did, hardcore truth-seekers IDLES began their vagabondage to indie-stardom by establishing Bristol night club ‘Batcave’, through which the band developed a passionate local following when they formed and gigged regularly there in 2009. They saw a steady incline in popularity over the following years, with self-produced records passed among fans and into the hands of music journalists hungry for IDLES’ raw, ragefully honest sound. As UK music press became increasingly fervent, IDLES released their debut full-length album ‘Brutalism’ in 2017 to high acclaim. Extensive live touring sealed the group’s solid standing as up-and-coming festival favourites. With IDLES’ audiences growing, it became evident that there was an unprecedentedly widespread appetite for their raucous, often politically charged live performances. The band continued to write new material, producing another three records in as many years, in a prolific and hugely successful new era of music which ricocheted them into the rock hall of fame.

IDLES latest releases have kept the same rebellious spirit and cutting social commentary, whilst incorporating more dynamic arrangements, soul and electronic influences, and including collaborations with the likes of Jehnny Beth (of Savages), Warren Ellis (of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds) and Metallica. IDLES’ albums and live performances have collected awards and GRAMMY nominations in recent years, and 2022 saw a five-year anniversary re-release of ‘Brutalism’, with additional live tracks from their performance at Glastonbury.

IDLES’ upcoming album ‘TANGK’, due to be released in February 2024, promises more of their trademark attitude, with a new focus on love, joy and gratitude. In a vow to themselves and their listeners to keep fighting for truth and to continue uplifting the world in hard times, ‘TANGK’ is jam-packed with emotion in a way IDLES fans won’t have heard before. Their 2024 tour is expected to showcase the most heartfelt, earth-shifting live performances that IDLES have given to date, and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for us.

‘I needed love. So I made it. I gave love out to the world and it feels like magic. This is our album of gratitude and power. All love songs. All is love.’

- Vocalist Joe Talbot on the making of the new album TANGK

Line-up

  • IDLES

With the recent chart-topping success of their fifth studio album TANGK, having received rapturous audiences and stellar reviews from their latest performances on the tour, and being announced as headliners for The Other Stage at Glastonbury Festival this year, to say IDLES are doing well would be an understatement. Their line-up for their show has been hand-picked by the band themselves, and it's chockfull of artists who should be on your radar right now, as well as certain festival legends who you'll know already.

  • Genesis Owusu

Sweeping up awards including Album of the Year, Best Independent Release and Best Hip Hop / Rap Release for his albums, Genesis Owsusu burst onto the scene to immediate acclaim for his genre-defying sound. With lyrics steeped in metaphor, Owusu is inspired by the stubborn human will to survive: “Through pandemics, bushfires and wars, we’re still going to find a way to make it to tomorrow, and I think that’s beautiful”.

  • Angélica Garcia

Angélica Garcia blends styles seamlessly in a way that’s entirely her own, switching between the textured polyrhythms of Latin America, vocal production inspired by ambient electronica, and the edgier sparks of noise pop. Exploring difficult concepts in an original way, Angélica Garcia experiments with sound, pairing alt-rock attitude with artfully arranged vocals and layered equatorial instrumentals.

  • JOHN

In a return to The Wyldes, festival favourites JOHN join the line-up in July. Achieving mounting critical success with their independently released albums and singles including ‘Trauma Mosaic’ and ‘Theme New Bond Junior’, JOHN blend punk attitude with clashing drum rhythms and rock guitar melodies, culminating in a style that translates perfectly into their live performances, which The Guardian described as ‘ferocious’ in their review marking them as ones to watch.

  • Moriaty

Locally renowned blues-rock two-piece Moriaty will open the stage for us! Having worked with and performed alongside IDLES at Leopallooza Festival (RIP), Moriaty are old-hands at getting you lovely lot in the party mood. With heavy bass lines and bluesy riffs, slick drum beats and drawling vocals, Moriaty claim the stage with a live performance that’s every bit as energising as their records promise.
